A Message from John and Mei Lian

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Jenny Lin Foundation. Looking back, we certainly wish that the events which necessitated the creation of this foundation had never come to pass. However, we also recognize the importance of our mission and we are proud of the work we have done in our community through these years.

While we still grieve, we believe that this can also be an empowering and even uplifting moment in our history. As we remember Jenny, we can also look back on the work that we have done and recount the thousands of young musicians and community members our organization has reached over the last 25 years.  For that, and for all the support that the community has given over this quarter century, we extend our sincerest gratitude.

In honor of this occasion, and in honor of Jenny’s love of music, the Jenny Lin Foundation has commissioned a new musical piece for string orchestra from the renowned composer Richard Meyer. We are set to debut this new piece at the 2019 JLF Summer Music Program. This new work will serve as a memorial to Jenny and a tribute to all lives lost to violence. As this piece enters the repertoire, our hope is that Jenny’s story will be shared with young musicians in orchestras everywhere as they play this piece. Orchestras across the country, and even across the globe, will learn about Jenny’s story. The ongoing mission and vision of the Jenny Lin foundation – Child Safety – will reach more young people than ever before.

In order to accomplish this lofty goal and ensure the continuance of the music program, we would appreciate your help so that we can continue providing this free summer program and concert:

  1. Donate so that we can continue providing this free summer program and concert
  2. Register to receive updates about the upcoming concert and other activities
  3. Let us know that you plan to join us at the concert

We’re also extending an invitation to our JLF Alumni to perform in this year’s concert alongside our 2019 Jenny Lin Summer Program students.

We hope to see you there.

Always remember,
John and Mei Lian
